Maxine Augusta (Lichliter) Powell

Maxine Augusta (Lichliter) Powell, 96 of Beatrice, NE passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in Beatrice. She was born July 10, 1923 in Beatrice to Henry W and Caroline A (Ahl) Lichliter.

She grew up in Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1941. She attended St. Paul Bible College in Minnesota and worked at Store Kraft Manufacturing in Beatrice, doing her part for the war effort during WWII.

Maxine married Rev. Laurence E. Powell in Beatrice on October 16, 1952. They lived in several towns while Laurence was preaching before moving back to Beatrice in 1969.

Maxine was a gifted musician / vocalist, she taught piano lessons, played for BSDC Chapel services and many local funeral services.

She was a loving mother and doting grandmother.

Maxine is survived by her children; Den Newbold-Powell and spouse Dee Ann Newbold-Powell of Burlington Iowa and David Powell and spouse Beverly of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Tasha Mason and husband Tim and Christiphor Powell and wife Lynze, Matthew Powell; great-grandchildren; Autumn Mason, Nolan Mason, Erika Powell, Laelah Powell and Linkin Powell.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Priscilla (Lichliter) Bevins; grandson, Kenneth Powell; nieces and nephew, Michelle, Kim and Mark Bevins.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel in Beatrice with Pastor Rob Wheeler officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.  www.harmanwrightmortuary.com Harman-Wright Mortuary of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
