Mary Marie Maxson left this world on Friday, November 9, 2018. She was born on January 7, 1925 in Fairbury to Bernard and Ella June (Cradduck) Baldwin. While working at the laundry in Fairbury, she met Robert Maxson, Sr and they were married on June 27, 1946. They lived in Portland, Oregon and Springfield, Missouri briefly before moving back to Fairbury where they lived until moving to Beatrice in 1955. Mary was a founding member of the Homestead Gem and Mineral Club and was the club’s historian for several years. She enjoyed traveling around Nebraska and the adjacent states, gathering rocks, minerals and fossils for their collection. With her husband, she participated in many craft shows and enjoyed going to area flea markets and antique shops. She was an avid collector of Barbie and character dolls and enjoyed creating scrapbooks of photos and miscellaneous information concerning family members and 40’s/50’s movie stars. Mary moved to Kearney and lived at the Prairie View Gardens Assisted Living facility since 2011.
She is survived by her son, Robert, Jr. and wife Lou; grandson, Thomas and wife Kathy; 2 great-grandchildren, all of Kearney; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Maxson of Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother; and four sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 PM with family greeting friends from 4 to 5 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the Beatrice Humane Society in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
