Lila L. (Wanek) Klasek

Lila L. (Wanek) Klasek, 88 years of age, of Wilber passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Wilber Care Center in Wilber. She was born on February 21, 1931 in Western to Leon and Lillian (Veseley) Wanek. Lila graduated from Wilber High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She married Charles Klasek on August 9, 1953 in Wilber. Lila was a former member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Carbondale, Illinois and a current member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber. While residing in Carbondale and Wilber, Lila was a member of the church choir, PEO, Garden Club, Bridge Club and Book Club. She enjoyed traveling the world with Charles where Paris was her favorite place and sitting on her deck with family and friends enjoying a glass of chardonnay. Lila’s family would like to thank the Wilber Care Center staff and the staff from AseraCare for going above and beyond with their care for our mother. We will always be forever grateful.

Lila is survived by her children, Terese Francis of Lincoln, Steve Klasek and wife Barbara of St. Charles, Missouri, Mark Klasek and wife Angie of Lincoln; grandchildren, Hannah Sneller and husband Andy, Liz Klasek-Brown and husband Nathan, Benjamin Francis and wife Emalee, Rachel Smith, Malorie Colp and husband Casey, Jordan Klasek and wife Kendra, Michael Klasek, Jacob Francis and wife Leigh, Paul Francis, Rachel Klasek, Marisa Klasek; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Dr. L. Donald Wanek and wife Christine of Idaho Falls, Idaho; aunt, Chloe Mundil of Wilber; 1 niece; 2 nephews; 2 great nieces; and 5 great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; parents-in-law, Bernard and Sylvia Klasek; and niece, Leslie Sgaglione (Wanek).

Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber with Pastor Travis Panning officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Wilber Czech Cemetery near Wilber. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
