Janeen Alice (Kemper) Kleine, age 58 of Beatrice Passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born June 19, 1960, to Harold & Bette (Kinaman) Kemper in Beatrice, Nebraska. She attended Wymore Southern High School and graduated in 1978.
Janeen married Steve Kleine on February 20, 1981, and recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.
Janeen began her working career at Tempo, then Jack and Jill, and was working as the 911 Radio Dispatch Operator for the Beatrice Police Department at the time she met Steve. In Decemeber of 1981 they moved to Loveland, Colorado, and shortly thereafter moved to Longmont, Colorado, where both their boys, Eric and Jared, were born.
While in Colorado, Janeen worked as a transcriptionist at Work Wise Rehabilitation Center in Loveland, then at St. Vrain Moving & Storage in Longmont, and then as a medical transcriptionist at McKee Medical Center in Loveland until the time they moved back closer to home. At that time they bought a grocery store in Frankfurt, Kansas. They later moved back to Beatrice where Janeen was employed at Gage County Medical Center for 10 years as a medical transcriptionist. For the past 13 years to the present, she had been doing medical transcription from home as a private contractor working with Pro Med Company.
In 2007 Janeen and Steve became grandparents to Eric’s beautiful little girl, Zeondra, whom they have had the pleasure of helping their son raise for the past 11 years. Janeen was a major role model in helping shape her life, and we know it was one of her most important rolls in her life. In 2009, Eric’s beautiful daughter, Jazlyn, was born and grandma loved spoiling both the girls and loved the opportunities she had to spend time with Jazlyn as well.
Janeen was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church in Wymore, Nebraska, and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for the past 28 years. She was very active during that time in the choir, participating in the bell choir, being a Sunday School teacher, playing piano accompaniment, and reading the lessons many times. Janeen loved music and always enjoyed attending the contemporary music service because of the band.
Janeen and her husband, Steve, were not big vacation takers, but for the last several years, they spent a lot of time at their cabin at Cotton Wood Beach in Blue Springs almost every Sunday afternoon with their two sons and two granddaughters and would float on the water, play keep away in the water, and play on the beach.
She grilled and made homemade ice cream on occasion and by the end of the Sunday afternoon outings, the car was usually quiet with worn-out sleepers. Other joys she experienced were watching the cranes at the cabin and eagles on occasion would dive and grab a fish.
Janeen loved her little Mommy’s girl, Sophie, our little dog who followed her everywhere. She also loved playing cards with close friends, teaching her granddaughter to knit, and attending all school functions concerning her. She also enjoyed watching scary movies with her family. When she was a young girl, she enjoyed riding her dad’s motorcycles and also spending hours at the skating rink that her parents operated in Wymore. This led to years of skating at the Rolla-Rena in Beatrice.
Janeen is survived by her husband, Steve; sons, Eric and Jared, both of Beatrice; and her two granddaughters, Zeondra and Jazlyn. Mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Donna and Roy Miller of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Jeff Kleine, of Filley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda (Kleine) and Kirk Orndorff, of Loveland, Colorado.
