Hope R. Nippert, 98, Beatrice died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 11, 1920 in Diller, NE. She was a member of Church of The Brethren, Holmesville, NE. Hope enjoyed writing and receiving letters, flowers, gardening, canning, cooking, family gatherings, NU football and Volleyball. She collected cookbooks and considered them her friends. Hope was active in 4-H and several extension clubs. She helped translate the Bible into Braille. She taught school for a while, later she was the Holmesville assistant Post mistress and a janitor at the school in Holmesville.
Survivors include her son, Melvin Ellison and wife Gail of Wakefield, MI; step-daughters and step-sons, Carol Perkins and husband Gary of Elkhorn, NE, Ron Totsch and wife Linda of Shawnee, KS, Diane Kisling and husband Harry of Diller, NE, Dennis Nippert and wife Deb of Diller, NE, Dale Nippert and wife Sandra of Mission, KS; grandchildren, Eliina Whitfield and husband Dr. JaDon of Madison, AL, and Kyle Ellison of Wakefield, MI; great-grandchildren, Christopher Piehl of Wakefield, MI, Jalynn and Jadiina Hope Whitfield of Madison, AL; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Hale of Cortland, NE; sister-in-law, Eva Renz of Beatrice; nieces and nephews.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gertrude (Glather) Renz; husbands, Lester Ellison (1980), Erwin Totsch (1983), Willard Nippert (2004); 2 sisters; 4 brothers; and 2 sons, Gayle and Keith Ellison.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Beatrice with Pastor Mary Beth Tuttle officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Mortuary. Burial will be held in the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, NE. A memorial has been suggested to the family’s choice with the mortuary in charge.
