Harry W. Schmale

Harry W. Schmale, 84, Beatrice, NE passed away at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE on August 1, 2018. He was born August 4, 1933 in Cortland, NE, to Fritz and Emma (Reier) Schmale. Harry was a Korean War Veteran. He attended school in the Cortland area, after completing school he helped his dad on the family farm. On September 6, 1953, he married Lois Lorenzen in Adams, NE, during the marriage two children were born Darryl and Donna. He pursued other interests including auto mechanic, school bus driver, truck driver, worked at Cushman’s, and later worked at Gooch’s where he retired in 1995. Harry enjoyed quality time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Beatrice; daughter, Donna Schmale of Beatrice; son, Darryl Schmale of Spencer, NE; 5 grandkids; 6 great-grandkids; sister-in-law, Becky Schmale of Cortland; several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey Schmale; sister, Marie Holman; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Schmale.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Chuck Bentjen officiating. Burial will be held 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Memorial Park with military rites by the Army National Guard Honor Guard. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at the mortuary with the family greeting friends 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.
