Glennys E. Winkle, 87, of Hutchinson, Kansas, formerly of Pickrell passed away June 5, 2019 at Reflection Living in Hutchinson. She was born on May 18, 1932 in Clatonia to Fred and Mary (Brolhorst) Schroeder. Glennys attended Clatonia Public School in Clatonia and Doane College in Crete. She taught elementary school for the Beatrice Public School system and was a hotel manager for many years after that. Glennys loved animals, flowers and plants. She enjoyed being a member of a card club and on the election board. Glennys was a member of Pickrell United Methodist Church in Pickrell where she was a Vacation Bible School teacher and coordinator. Glennys moved to Hutchinson eight years ago to be closer to her son. On June 29, 1954 she married Rolland Winkle at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice.
Glennys is survived by a son, Terry Lee Winkle of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces; and many great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolland; sisters, Verlinda Rehm, Madeline Rehm, Lois Tegtmeier; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Pickrell United Methodist Church in Pickrell with Pastor Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasantview Cemetery near Pickrell. A register book will be available to sign from 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Because of Glennys’ love for animals, memorials may be given to the Glennys Winkle Memorial Fund (to be donated to various animal shelters), in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
