Gerald Lee Simpson, 81, Lake Ozark, MO formerly of Beatrice, NE, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born June 2, 1938 in Beatrice. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1966, after retiring as a sergeant from the army he owned and operated Lee’s Antiques in Beatrice. Gerald was a member of the U.C.T. and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion in Beatrice.
Survivors include son, James “Mike” Simpson of Lake Ozark, MO; daughter, Patty Davis of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Alex Simpson, Allieson Simpson, Ashley Swanda, and Lindsey Hudson; great-granddaughter, Reese Swanda; nephews, James Darnell and Terry Darnell of Ord, NE, Daryl Mailahn of Blue Springs, NE; nieces, Marlene Mailahn Chirnside of Omaha, NE, Lori Fairbairn of Wales, WI and Clysta Keller.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday August 23, 2019 at Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Military Honors provided by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice and the Nebraska Army National Guard.
