Evelyn May (Sparks) Camp, 98 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. She was born near Hoag on February 27, 1921 to Alvin and Edith (Gordon) Sparks. Evelyn grew up on the farm and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1939. She was a telephone operator during the war and worked 20 years at the Beatrice State Home in the dining room. Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Beatrice since 1933. She married Clyde “Barney” Camp on February 23, 1968. Evelyn loved feeding the birds and squirrels and especially loved her dogs Dirk and Orville.
Evelyn is survived by a nephew, Albert Sparks and wife Joyce of Lincoln; and a niece, Dorothy Sparks of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde in 2001; brother, Roy Sparks; and sister, Doris Schmidt.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 20, 2019 at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Please meet at Gate 2. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Beatrice Humane Society or the First Christian Church in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
