Dorothy Elaine (Schmutte) Harms, 83 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on March 25, 1934 in Adams to Fredrick and Pearl (Starks) Schmutte. Dorothy graduated from Adams High School in 1952. She taught country school for 2 years, was a secretary at BSDC for 26 years, served noon meals at Paddock Lane School and was an Avon Rep for the past 28 years. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Adams where she used to teach Sunday school and play the piano and organ. She enjoyed volunteer work, music and especially her dog Toto.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Denise Foster of Beatrice; 2 step daughters, Cindy Hagenbaumer, Lisa Hart and husband Jeff of Medford, Oregon; step son, Robert Harms, Jr. and wife Tamlyn of Boise, Idaho; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Foster; sister, Mae Davidson; and an infant sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery in Adams. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary.
