Charlsie Elizabeth Morris

Charlsie Elizabeth Morris, 20, of Lincoln, formerly of Beatrice, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at her home after complications from influenza.  She was born June 10, 1993 to David and Christine (Hawkins) Morris.   She attended elementary school at St. Paul Lutheran School Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 2011. In her younger years she was involved in the USA Track & Field and for 3 consecutive years was nationally ranked #1 in the javelin and shot put and was in the elite group of Discus Throwers, medaling nationally two years.  She was a member of the Cornhusker Flyers throwing club.   Charlsie was currently studying as a history major and with her fluency in Spanish wanted to also pursue a law career specializing in PTSD and Rape Victim Advocacy and just recently passed the Law School entrance exam at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.   She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice.  She was an avid reader, loved poetry, watching movies, road trips and sports.  She was an animal lover, especially her dog Maya, and was a loyal friend and family member to all while keeping her faith close to her heart.

She is survived by her parents, David and Chris Morris of Beatrice; grandfather, Thomas Hawkins Sr.  of Beatrice; uncles, Thomas Hawkins, Jr. and wife Kathy of Beatrice, Les Hawkins of Beatrice; aunts, Debbie Hawkins of Beatrice, Pam Norton and husband Steve of Beatrice, Monica Goetz and husband Steve of Mt. Washington,  Kentucky, Liz DeBuhr and husband Dale of Beatrice, NE, Sharon Smith and husband Charles , Shirley Smith and husband William all of Summerfield, KS; numerous cousins

Charlsie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elizabeth Hawkins and grandparents Charles C. & Ferdella B. Morris

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice with Pastor Douglas Irmer, officiating.  A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 a.m. in the church basement.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice.  Visitation will be held Sunday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.  A register book is also available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com for messages of condolence.  A memorial is established to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice.  Harman-Wright Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
