Bernice Mary (Stec) Voller

Bernice Mary Voller, 85, Beatrice, NE died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the High Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Lincoln, NE.  She was born December 15, 1931 in Long Pine, NE. Bernice graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, NE in 1949, after graduating she worked for the Telephone Co. in Alliance.  She moved to Lincoln where she worked as a clerk for Woodmen Accident and Life Co. While in  Lincoln she met the love of her life   Harold E. Voller, and they married on  June 7, 1958 at the Long Pine Catholic Church. After their first son, John, was born Bernice quit working  and was a stay at home mom.  The family moved to Beatrice in 1963 and was blessed with another son, Paul and later a daughter, Diane. After her children started school Bernice was an in home babysitter. The family became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice and Bernice was a member of the Altar Society and Circle #7 .  She volunteered for several years at St. Joseph’s and was the housekeeper for Father Danko. She was also in charge of taking care of all the candles and linens of the church.  She also cleaned at St. Joseph Catholic School and worked nights cleaning at Cominco Fertilizers Ltd.offices . Bernice and Harold enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales, traveling and family reunions. She loved gardening, flowers and raising vegetables, cooking, baking and was famous for her Polish Kolaches.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Beatrice; sons, John  D. Voller and wife Sara of Abilene, TX, and Paul Voller of Beatrice; daughter, Diane Edwards and husband Bill of Denton, NE; grandchildren, Tyler Voller and wife Jackie of Lubbock, TX, Dr. Grace Zalesak and husband Collin of Abilene, Lucy Voller of Abilene, and Bryan Edwards of Lone Tree, IA; great-grandchildren, Dylan Voller of Lubbock, Avery Edwards, Morgyn Edwards and Keegan Edwards all of Lone Tree; one great-great-grandson, Christopher Edwards of Lone Tree; brother, Pete Stec and wife Rosella of Gretna, NE; sister, Teresa Murphy and husband Jay of Tucson, AZ; sisters-in-law, Bev Stec of Pamona, CA, Delores Stec, of Valentine, NE, Lee Stec of Long Pine and Jo Stec of Long Pine; brother- in- law, Gayle Voller and wife Shirley of Santa Rosa, California; numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Agnes (Lazarowicz) Stec; grandson, Chris Edwards; brothers, Greg, Leo, Alfred, George (Shirley), Anthony, Stanley, and Joseph Stec; sister, Pauline (John) Kosmicki.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice with Father Robert Barnhill and Father Michael Stec. Burial will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln, NE. A Scriptural Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. The body will lie in state at Harman-Wright Mortuary of Beatrice from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. The body will also lie in state at the church from  10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.  In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  A guestbook is also available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com Harman-Wright Mortuary and Crematory of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
