Bernetta (Frey) Huneke

Bernetta (Frey) Huneke, 88 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Plymouth passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Homestead House in Beatrice. She was born on December 19, 1930 to Alfred and Alvina (Rohlfing) Frey. Bernetta graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948. She married Edgar Huneke on January 11, 1953. Bernetta spent the majority of her time helping Edgar on the family farm until moving to Plymouth in 1978. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she faithfully watched or listened to services on Sundays, Extension Club and a card party group. Bernetta enjoyed sports in general, gardening, the Chicago Cubs and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bernetta is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Schwan and husband Bob of DeWitt, Rosanne Mammen and husband Dean of Plymouth; 5 grandchildren, Bobbie Scherling and husband Brian, Jamie Beerenstrauch, Christopher Mammen and wife Kari, Dustin Mammen, Joshua Mammen; 7 great grandchildren, Karli, Kenzi, Kaylin, Rylan, Bryson, Grayson, Alexis; brother, Wilbert Frey and wife Joanne; and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edgar in 2002; infant son, Keith; and brother, Marvin Frey.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Pastor Fred Berger officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery near Plymouth. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Monday, April 29, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth. Memorials are suggested to the church with the church elders in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth in charge of arrangements.
