Vernon Emil Vogt

Vernon Emil Vogt, 90, Bonner Springs, KS died April 26, 2015 in Bonner Springs, KS.  He was born November 28, 1924 in Jansen, NE to Armin and Elsie (Ruhnke) Vogt. He lived in Jansen and Plymouth area graduating from Plymouth High School in 1942. Vernon attended Doane College until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, serving during WWII in the Philippines and Europe and obtained the rank of 1st LT. He worked for JC Penney in Crete and Beatrice while earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Doane College. After college Vernon managed JC Penney stores in Shenandoah, IA and San Antonio, TX and as a district manager in Denver, CO. He married Billie Angel on April 13, 1972 and they lived in San Antonio until 2005, moving to Overland Park, KS and Bonner Springs, KS.

Survivors include his wife, Billie of Bonner Springs; daughters, Carol Sue “Susie” Young of Edwardsville, KS and Peggy Lou Barr and husband Denny of Red Oak, IA; stepson, John Angel and wife Lou; grandsons, Jeffrey Pearson, James Pearson and Susan, Christopher Barr and wife Mia, Chad Barr and wife Nikki and Scott Hoyt; granddaughters, Tera Young-Clark and husband Ed, Keeley Angel Mueller and husband Matt; great-grandchildren, James II, Jessica, Noah, Bailey, Jake, Jackson, Max, Armin, Ty, Brody and Samantha and fiancée Brett; and great-great-granddaughter, Alexandra; brother Kenneth Vogt and wife Janice of Plymouth, NE.  

Preceded in death by parents; wife, Loretta Vogt; sister, Delores Vogt; son-in-law, Scott Young.

Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel in Beatrice with Christopher Barr officiating.
