Theirl W. Linder, 82 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice. He was born near Sutton on March 12, 1934 to John and Ruth (Nolde) Linder. Theirl received his education from Sutton Public Schools. He lost his father at the age of 2 and his mother in 1956. While on that ship, they cruised the Mediterranean, Arctic Circle, across the Equator, around Cape Horn, to South America, Balboa Canal Zone, Panama Canal, into San Francisco and on to Seattle, Washington. He then boarded the USS Noble Troop Transport and headed for Korea. On his return flight home across Canada, Theirl enjoyed seeing the polar bears dive into the ocean. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1955. In 1957, Theirl married Aldene Goertzen in the Henderson Mennonite Church in Henderson. He worked several jobs in Sutton, Milford and Beatrice. Theirl often started conversations with strangers at cafés and stores by asking where they were from. He always knew someone from that town and would stand and talk. Theirl loved going out to eat, just driving around, going to the kids’ and just being “on the go”.
