Stanley Vontz 88, Beatrice died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society. He was born March 9, 1927 in Beatrice. Stanley married Alvina (Schneider) Larimore on June 19, 1948 in Beatrice. He served in the Navy during WWII. Stan worked for 32 years for NPPD. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bitting-Norman American Legion Post 27, Beatrice Eagles Club, Beatrice Boat Club where he was the president for 6 years; and the Geddes-Thober V.F.W. Post 1077. Stan enjoyed camping, Husker football, singing, especially sentimental was the Blue Hawaii Wedding Song that he sang at his daughters’ wedding, and being with family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Dennis Larimore and wife Mary of St. Augustine, FL, Yvonne Shaw of Castle Rock, CO, Sherry Fletcher of Beatrice, Randy Vontz and partner Jesus "Jay" Ramirez of Kansas City, MO, and Ricky Vontz and Marcia Vontz of Beatrice; grandchildren, Denise Spear and husband Brad of Brunswick, GA, Robert Larimore and wife Nikki of Colombia, MO, Jesse Shaw and wife Alex of Denver, CO, Shelena Maguire and husband Darrel of Beatrice, Darrick Fletcher and wife Amanda of Beatrice, Jeremy Vontz and wife Kylie of Beatrice, and Nicholas Vontz and special friend Jacqueline Feldhausen of Beatrice; 7 great-grandchildren, Dominic and Shyanna Maguire, Haleigh, Hannah and Kinsley Fletcher, Madeline Larimore, Liam Shaw and 2 on the way; sister, Sherill McKinney and husband Don of Lincoln; brother, Kale “Bud” Vontz and wife Marge of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Lillie Schneider of Treynor, IA; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Irene (Cain) Vontz; wife, Alvina; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Vontz and Elsie Vontz; sister, Roberta Justa.
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016, at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with mortuary in charge. The body will lie in state at Harman-Wright Mortuary on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night.
