Sharon Rae (Berry/Trauernicht) Holtmeier

Sharon R. (Berry) (Trauernicht) Holtmeier, 69 years of age, of Diller, passed away peacefully at home Monday, December 19, 2016, after a 3 year battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 24, 1947 in Richmond, California, the youngest of two daughters to John and Wilda (Ramsey) Berry. Sharon lived with her family in California and Idaho before calling Nebraska home. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1965. Sharon worked a variety of jobs through her life including a jailor and dispatcher with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Police Department. She took great pride in her work and always tried to be respectful to each person she encountered. Sharon married Jerry Holtmeier on April 1, 1993 in Beatrice. When they chose to start their wedded journey on April Fool’s Day, she joked, “we’ll fool them”. Sharon enjoyed a variety of activities, including working crossword puzzles quietly at home, going for rides in the country with Jerry to check crops or chatting with friends over a cup of coffee or a Coke. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Dawn Jeardoe and husband Patrick of Beatrice; son, David Trauernicht and wife Tiffany of Beatrice; son-in-law, Jim Brod of Ellis; step-son, Troy Holtmeier of Plymouth; 2 step-daughters, Tiffani Pinkerton and husband Kevin of Omaha, Tori Holtmeier and friend Jason Shepperd of Austin, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Kalynn Jeardoe, Truxton Trauernicht, Sabastian Holtmeier, Caden, Lucas and Riley Pinkerton, Holt Shepperd, Jacob and Jordan Brod; 4 brothers-in-law, Leonard Doebele of Hanover, Kansas, Jim Holtmeier and wife Joyce of DeWitt, Joel Holtmeier and wife Linda of Diller, Jack Holtmeier and wife Kathy of Plymouth; sister, JaNelle Weise and husband Bruce of Jansen, numerous nieces nephews, aunts, uncles; ex-husband John Trauernicht; special cousin, Vickie Hunnicutt; and close lifelong friends, Sandy Oltman and Marla Wilcox. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wilda Berry; parents-in-law, Gerald and Grace Holtmeier; sister, Marla Doebele; and niece, Jessica Holtmeier-Nabity.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 at Westside Baptist Church in Beatrice with Pastor Jon Palmquist officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Casual dress is requested per Sharon’s wishes. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Friday in the church basement. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the Westside Baptist Church or Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
