Roger was my brother in law years ago, had a lot of fun road tripping with our wives. The Corvette mentioned in the post above was a 1964 and Roger traded it to me for my 1969 green Road Runner. We both had fun with the cars we ended up with. We enjoyed playing pool and I don't remember ever winning a game against Roger. Scott and Grant- Kathy and I are sorry for your loss.

I remember Roger giving me a ride on his motorcycle when he was about 16 years old and I was about 6 years old. I was there when he got on a bus headed to join the Navy, my mom sent him bourbon candy and Roger later said when he opened the tin can up on the ship the aroma sent everyone on the ship to his quarters! Roger gave me a ride in his red Corvette (1963 I believe?) roadster. He traded it for a green Road Runner after he got married and Scott was born, I remember Roger giving me and my dad a ride in it at night and at over 100mph, the telephone poles really did look like a picket fence flying by! I remember Roger telling my dad when he worked at Earl Mays for $1.75 hour saying you can't do much with that, so he wanted to work on cars, at first a mechanic shop, however, after replacing a water pump on a Cadillac for $11 and discovering it defective and having to redo it, he decided to do body work instead. Roger brought his first air compressor with me and my dad along. I remember Roger's first paint job, a white one on an early 1960's chevy, he gave me and my dad a ride in it, he lit up the tires, however it was hard to control with the little steering wheel in it. I remember in the middle 1970's playing pool with Roger at the Green Lantern and we went undefeated for about 25 games, a record for me! I remember the black and white 1956 Chevy 2-door hardtop he brought in Lincoln for $50, I think Bill helped him get it back to Beatrice, the pressure plate was in it backwards. I remember Roger telling my dad and I he went to Kansas City to buy a 1953 Corvette, however, when he got their someone else was hauling it away! Anyway I better stop for now....I have a lot of fond memories to draw from with Roger and my dad Elmer Schmersal.
