Robert “Bob” J. Landen, 94 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation in Beatrice. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Albion to Walter and Iva (Watson) Landen. Bob was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church of rural St. Edward. He attended country school and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1940. He married Dorothy Ann Fisher of St. Edward on July 2, 1944 at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Bob was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the Philippine Islands from 1945-1946. In 1951, Bob started Landen Electric and TV with his brother Jack in Albion where they sold and serviced appliances and televisions as well as doing residential and commercial electrical work. He sold out in 1959 and went back to work for Consumers Public Power in Chadron. Consumers Public Power eventually merged with Nebraska Public Power District and in 1962 he was promoted to District Energy Manager in Beatrice where he worked until retiring in 1987 after a total of 33 years with Consumers Public Power and NPPD.
