Richard A. Penner

Richard Henry Penner, 89 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Thursday, August 13 at Homestead House in Beatrice,NE.  Richard was born October 24, 1925 in Beatrice to Gerhardt and Elsie Penner.  He graduated from Beatrice High School, Class of 1943 and married Helen Louise Penner on September 26, 1947.  He farmed west of Beatrice and was a member of the First Mennonite Church of rural Beatrice. 

Richard is survived by sons, Richard W. (Dick) Penner and fiancé, Marlene Vetrovsky – Beatrice; Robert (Bob) and Shari Penner – Crete.  Daughters and son-one-laws, Carole  and Bob Fixter – Estes Park, CO and Susan and Rick Kyser – Waukee, IA.  Grandchildren:  Gareth and Angie Penner, Jocelyn and Mike Sheldon, Tiffany Fixter, Luke Fixter and fiancé Emily Martischang, Nolan and Rachel Penner, Jamie and Brian Hopp, Samantha Kyser and fiancé Gregory Bliss.  Six great-grandchildren and sister, Edna Ensz.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise in 2009, his parents and brother, Willard Penner.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at First Mennonite Church of rural Beatrice with Pastor Brett Klingenberg officiating. Burial will be at the First Mennonite Cemetery of rural Beatrice at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday. The body will lie in state at the Harman-Wright Mortuary 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and not at the church. The family will meet and greet friends and relatives at the Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established to the Mennonite Central Committee (World Relief Work) or the Mennonite Disaster Service with Louis Esau and Bill Goossen in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
