Mildred Grace Carmichael 93, Beatrice died May 1, 2016 at her home in Beatrice. She was born May 16, 1922 in Virginia, NE. She was rural school teacher, worked as a riveter at an aircraft factory in Wichita, KS during
WW II, and worked 22 years as a seamstress for Formfit in Beatrice. Mildred married Ralph “Sam” Carmichael December 29, 1945 in Marysville, KS. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, reading, writing letters to her family members and baseball, especially the K.C. Royals and had attended many games. Mildred loved spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Beatrice and was a 50+ year member of the American Legion Aux.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Carrie Dorminey and husband Toby of Georgia, and Amy Hohbein and husband Todd of Utah; 6 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Wyatt and Quinn Hohbein, Aaron, Ellie, and Reese Dorminey; daughter-in-law, Janice Schinkus of Lincoln; sister, Alma Bede of Hutchinson, KS; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie “Fiala” Libal; husband Ralph “Sam”; sons, Max and Mark Carmichael; brothers and sisters, Rose Brindle, Mary Barker, James, George, Wilson, and Joe Libal.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday May 16, 2016 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. No Visitation. Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. A memorial is established to the Family’s Choice with the mortuary in charge.
