Maxine L. (Oviatt) Rockemann

Maxine L. Rockemann, 90, Wahoo formerly of Beatrice, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Saunders Medical Center Long Term Care. She was born January 5, 1927 in Vesta, Nebraska to Ernest and Ina Mae (Peacock) Oviatt. Maxine worked at the Hested Store, Clabaugh Pharmacy before working as a custodian at the Gage County Courthouse until she retired. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ and the Bitting-Norman American Legion Aux. both in Beatrice.  Maxine enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren especially Rummy, watching their sporting events, camping, fishing, needle point, crossword puzzles and watching baseball.

Survivors include her son, Bill Rockemann and wife Ardy of Davey, NE; daughter, Carol Grass and husband Ron of Lincoln, NE; grandsons, Jared Rockemann and fiance’ Kayla of Lincoln, Josh Rockemann and wife Andrea of Ceresco, NE, and Nick Hatley and wife Laura of Sidney, IA; granddaughter, Julie Diaz and husband Eddie of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Benson Rockemann, Jacob Hatley, Riley Sheldon, Ali, Nadia, and Bella Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald Eugene Rockemann; brother, Otis Oviatt; sister, Delores Wolf and infant sister, Eva Bernice Oviatt.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. The body will lie in state at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial is established to the First Christian Church.
