Leonard Charles Haecker

Leonard C. Haecker, 92, rural Pickrell, NE, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at his home. He was born March 9, 1925 on the family farm near Pickrell, NE.  Leonard graduated from Clatonia High School and then served in the Army during the Korean War from February 1951 to February 1953. He married Audrey (Tholen) Fisser on October 9, 1954 at Christ Lutheran Church, Pickrell.  Leonard was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years, member of the church council, a founding member, setting up Christ Lutheran Cemetery Association, a member of the cemetery board and caretaker until 2017.  He was a member of Pickrell Rural Fire Dept., a board member and volunteer from 1970 to 2008. Leonard was a member of the county reorganization school boards of the Norris Public School District and Tri County District in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

Survivors include by his wife, Audrey (Tholen) Haecker; children, David Fisser and wife Debbie of Highland Village, TX, Pat Ferl and husband Dennis of Monument, CO, Dean Fisser and wife Janet of Harbine, NE, Denise Haecker of Pickrell, and Kevin Haecker of Pickrell; grandchildren, Jennie Fisser, Dennis Jay Ferl Jr. and wife Faith, Rita Lee Mossie, Scott Sokolik and wife Erin, Becky Sokolik, Heidi Logan and husband Jason; great-grandchildren, Sadie Seibt and husband Nathan, Jayde Angus, Marissa Ferl, Seth Ferl, Riley Ferl, Chloe Ferl, Cooper Logan, Avery Logan, Quinn Logan, and Brennan Sokolik; great-great-granddaughter, Pippa Seibt.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Ella (Penterman) Haecker; brother, Melvin Haecker; sisters-in-law, Irene Haecker and Maime Haecker; niece, Judy Haecker and great-great-granddaughter, Emory Yael Seibt.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, Pickrell with Pastor Heather Brown officiating.  Private family burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.  A memorial is established to the Christ Lutheran Cemetery or the Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice with Robert Schoen and Melvin Winkle in charge.  Cremation has taken place but a register book is available at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The family will greet friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Mortuary.  A guestbook is also available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com  Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
