Leon O. Heaston

Leon O. Heaston, 93 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Lancaster Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. He was born on February 25, 1924 near Holmesville to William Arthur and Iva Ruth (Williams) Heaston. Leon grew up on a farm near Holmesville and graduated from Holmesville High School in 1942. He married Anna “Lucille” Siems on November 22, 1943 in Washington County, Kansas. Leon was a devoted husband to Lucille for 73 years. He worked at Storekraft Manufacturing as a finish carpenter for 43 years, retiring in 1990. Leon was an avid Husker football and basketball fan and enjoyed carpentry, cabinet work and tending to his two giant pecan trees in his backyard.

Leon is survived by a son, Gary and wife Judy of Lincoln; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Anne Miles and husband Stephen of Benson, Arizona, Joel Andrew Heaston of Lincoln; and 2 great grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth and Nathan John Miles of Benson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille on April 11, 2017; and 3 brothers.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Pleasantview Cemetery near Pickrell. Visitation and family greeting friends will be from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
