Jeanne “Holly” Barie, 86 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 9th, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born December 13, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. Holly graduated from North Riverside high school near Hollywood, IL. She attended Michigan State University and remained a devout Spartan fan, despite living in Nebraska most of her life. While at Michigan State, she was courted by and eventually married Robert F. Barie III, of Gross Pointe, MI. It was early in their relationship, that Rob gave her the nickname Holly. The couple lived in Northbrook, IL where their two oldest daughters were born, before moving to Omaha, NE in 1964. Holly lived in the same house until the death of her husband in 1988, then living with her mother in Omaha and Lincoln. Up until her illness, Holly worked for the Alpaca Registry in Lincoln, while living with her daughter and son-in-law.
Holly was gentle soul and easily made friends. She attended St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Lincoln, playing in the Bell Choir and participating in a number of guilds. She is survived by daughters, Kathy Anderson and husband Craig of Omaha, Sue Buller and husband Brian of Lincoln and Lisa Grossoehme and husband Paul of Omaha; son, Rob Barie and wife Koni of Lincoln; brother Don Suchy of Wausau, WI; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Austin Anderson, Lucy, Sally, Freddie, Annie and Maggie Barie, Abby and McKenzie Collins and Alex and Connor Grossoehme, 2 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Holly was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents Rudolph and Evelyn (Hubata) Suchy.
Memorial Services will held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2325 S. 24th St., Lincoln. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. No visitation but a guestbook is available at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com Memorials may be given to the family for future use to memorialize Holly’s life.
