Harry A. Milke

Harry A. Milke, 98, Beatrice, NE died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society.  He was born July 22, 1919 in Beatrice to Frank and Grace (Neuman) Milke.  He attended Beatrice Public Schools, later served in the Nebraska National Guard from 11/10/1936 to 11/9/1939, U.S. Navy from 6/1/1944 to 4/18/1946 and the U.S. Naval Reserves from 4/22/1947 to 4/21/1952. Harry married Dorothy Beard August 12, 1939 in Marysville, KS, after her death in 1991, he married Regina Knoche in December of 1992.  He worked 44years at Hoover Steel Tank, 8 1/2 years for Gage Co. Ambulance Service, 21 years at Carstens Garden and part-time for Harman-Wright Mortuary. Harry was a past Beatrice City Council Member, was on the Volunteer Fire Dept. for 27 years past president and was past president of SE Nebraska Volunteer Assn. He helped with Boy Scouts for 17 years and was an asst. Scout Master for Troop 221, a member of the VFW Post 1077, American Legion Post 27, the Elks Club all of Beatrice, the Lincoln Traffic Club, Beatrice Transportation Group, and Footprinters Chapter 46. Harry was a past member of the First Christian Church, Beatrice serving on Building and Grounds committee and was a Deacon. He is a present member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beatrice.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Milke and wife Ardys of Beatrice; granddaughter, Jennifer Schultz and husband Michael of Raymond, NE; grandson, Kevin Milke of Beatrice; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Milke of Beatrice; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Schultz, Brittany, Tyler and Bryce Milke; nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Dorothy (1991); 2nd wife, Regina (2004), brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John Duling officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice and at the church one hour preceding services.  A memorial is established to the Church or Good Samaritan Society.
