Harold D. Rohr

Harold D. Rohr, 69, Beatrice died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home. He was born April 11, 1948 in Fairbury, NE, was raised south of Diller, NE and graduated from Hollenberg, KS High School in 1966. Harold married Tudi Prewitt, December 17, 1966 in Beatrice. He worked from 1966 until 2008 at Tote Systems later known as Hoover Materials Handling Group in Beatrice; starting in the press room, then the HMC line and continued as a welder until they closed. He was very active in the Union, serving as Shop Steward and President of IAM&AW Local 543, and on the executive board of the Lincoln Central Labor Council. He received the Al Bauer Award and was inducted into the Nebraska Labor Leaders Hall of Fame. Most recently he worked for City of Beatrice Public Properties, mowing and maintaining lawn equipment. Harold enjoyed spending time with family, working in his shop, building stuff, and helping friends with their projects.

Survivors include his wife, Alma “Tudi” Rohr; 2 sons, Corey Rohr of Beatrice and Curtis Rohr of Lincoln; daughter, Crystal Jones and husband Jesse of Beatrice; grandsons, Dalton and Garrett Jones of Beatrice; brothers, Jim Rohr of Beatrice, John Rohr and wife Gayle of Diller, NE, Ray Rohr of Diller; sister, Betty Rohr of Denver, CO; brothers-in-law, Gene Walker of Corona, CA, Bill Walker of Kearney, NE and John Prewitt of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy (Dimond) Rohr; mother-in-law, Myrtle Stemper; sister-in-law, Merlene Hardesty; brother-in-law, Mick Walker.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Church of Christ, 10th & Grant, Beatrice. Casual wear is suggested.  No visitation but a guestbook is available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com. A memorial is established to the family.  Harman-Wright Mortuary and Crematory, Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
