Drae William James Swarthout

Drae William James Swarthout, 24 of Beatrice, NE, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Jefferson Community Health Center, Fairbury, NE. He was born August 13, 1993 in Hebron, NE.  Drae lived in Evanston, WY, Fairbury and currently lived in Beatrice.  He served in the U.S. Army from October 2012 to March 2016 in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Ft. Lewis, WA and then the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC. Drae worked for Twin Rivers Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge and Ashley Home Center in Beatrice.  He loved to hunt, fish, shoot guns, ride motorcycles and have fun.

Survivors include his dad and step-mom, Steven and Jenny Swarthout of Beatrice; mother, Brandy Swarthout of Georgia; half-sister, Destinie Swarthout of Georgia; step-brothers Jacob and Jackson Collins; step-sisters, Alexis and Avery Collins; uncle, Mark Swarthout and Teresa Kagy of Beatrice; cousin, Eean Swarthout of Beatrice; special friend, Brittainy Lee of MO; grandmothers, Judy Wagner of Lewiston, NE and Loretta Swarthout of Mitchell, SD; grandparents, Stan and Judy Meyer of Beatrice; great-aunt, Dee Nicholson-Waltke of Fairbury.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Swarthout; grandmother, Charlotte Swarthout and cousin, Damon Swarthout.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Christ Community Church, Beatrice. Visitation will be held 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Military Honors will be conducted by Bitting-Norman American Legion Post 27 and the National Guard Honor Guard.
