Dorothy Elizabeth (Weirs) Eastwood

Dorothy Elizabeth Eastwood, 94 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln. She was born on Monday, September 20, 1920 at Summerfield, Kansas to Byron and Anna (Nestle) Weirs. Dorothy married Howard Eastwood on July 26, 1941 and was employed at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. The couple later moved to Pawnee County and farmed there until Howard’s death in 1970. Dorothy worked at the Beatrice Bakery Company and was an employee for 30 years at H&R Block prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beatrice. Dorothy enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, and had a special talent for Chinese Checkers. She enjoyed family activities and was a wonderful letter writer.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Andrew of Hastings; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; brother, John; and sisters, Neoma Weiso, Shirley Bolton, Maxine Scheideler, Julia McConathy, and Grace Wheelock.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Theodora Boolin officiating. Interment will be in the Pawnee City Cemetery in Pawnee City. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice.
