Dorothy (Finch) Doyle

Dorothy Doyle, 86 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Beatrice Health & Rehabilitation in Beatrice. She was born on Sunday, November 1, 1928 at Orchard to Ward and Hazel (Hemminger) Finch. Dorothy graduated from Odell High School in 1946. She married Myrlan Doyle on May 23, 1948. Dorothy and Myrlan founded Hidden Acres Golf Course in 1968 and worked side by side there until their retirement. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church.  Her passion was cooking - preparing hundreds of meals for church activities and golf tournaments.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, tending to her flowers with Myrlan, and their twilight rides on the golf course.

Dorothy is survived by 4 children, Joan Workman and husband Jeff of Beatrice, Jeanne Lair and husband Mike of Chillicothe, Missouri, John Doyle and wife Barb of San Diego, California, James Doyle and wife Sandy of Cary, Illinois; 9 grandchildren, Jillian Harris and husband James, Trevor Lair and wife Alison, Michelle Doyle, Alyssa Burkhalter and husband Rich, Kelsey Doyle, Kyle Doyle, Kacie Doyle, Sydney Workman, Jessup Workman; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Doyle and husband Dr. Dean; brother, Don Finch, both of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Myrlan on February 22, 2010.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Charles Spence III officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
