Dean R. Kunc

Dean Ramon Kunc, 87 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away May 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1929 to Charles and Ida (Vokach) Kunc. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School. Dean served in the U.S. Army and was Korean War Veteran. He married Darlene Breunsbach on March 8, 1952. In 1953 they moved to the family farm at Crab Orchard where they lived for 33 years. He worked in the maintenance department at Martin Luther Home for 14 years. Dean loved farming, his cattle, bowling, his American Legion friends, playing cards and tinkering.

Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene; daughters Dee Ann Dyas and husband Philip of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Mary Corey of Beatrice; son, Wayne Kunc of Sparks, Nevada; 4 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; twin sister, Donna Knoche and husband Keith of Beatrice; sister, Charlene James of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Virginia Kunc of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Dale Kunc; and sisters, Velma Bailey, Irene Husa, Evelyn Dougherty, and Dorothy Plume.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Evergreen Home Cemetery with military rites by the Virginia American Legion. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available from 9 AM to 7 PM with family greeting friends from 5:30 to 7 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. A memorial is established to the Virginia American Legion or the First Christian Church with Ralph and Virginia Larsen in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
