A. Wanell (Schaeffer) Church

A. Wanell (Schaeffer) Church, 86 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born in Tiffin, Missouri on Thursday, January 24, 1929 to Albert and Lula (Killebrew) Schaeffer. Wanell attended the Tiffin Grade School in Tiffin, Missouri and graduated from Humbolt High School in Humboldt. She married Carl LeRoy Church on December 24, 1948. Wanell was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice. She was very active with the church sewing shorts, bags and almost 1000 dresses for the children in orphanages in Haiti as well as lap blankets for veterans. Wanell enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, making chicken and dumplings, reading, and most of all being a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a very spiritual woman and will be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her son, John Church of Beatrice; 2 granddaughters, Carla Church Niederklein and husband Adam of Lincoln, Charlotte Church and fiancé Russell Mueller of York; sister, Alta Smith and husband Gerald of Beatrice; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl on February 4, 1991; and infant sister, Nina June Schaeffer.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Charles Spence III officiating. Interment will be in the Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2015 with family greeting friends from 5 to 6 PM at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. A memorial is suggested to the church in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
